On May 20–21, 2025, Mr. Thanong Leelawatansuk, Deputy Director (Technical) of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) – GIT, had the honor of representing the institute at the Laboratory Manual Harmonization Committee (LMHC) meeting, held at the Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) in Switzerland. The LMHC is composed of seven globally recognized gemological laboratories: GIT (Thailand), GIA (USA), SSEF and Gübelin (Switzerland), DGemG (Germany), CISGEM (Italy), and CGL (Japan). This regular forum serves to foster international collaboration, exchange expertise, and harmonize laboratory practices in gemstone testing and nomenclature. This year’s meeting addressed several key topics, including the Color Stability Test and the development of standardized terminology and testing protocols for important gemstones such as Padparadscha Sapphire, Paraiba Tourmaline, and Cobalt Spinel. GIT is proud to contribute to the global effort of enhancing transparency, reliability, and consistency in gemological standards, reinforcing confidence across the gemstone and jewelry industry.
