GIT Board Visits Vietnam’’s Gem Mines to Enhance Thailand-Vietnam Trade Cooperation

The GIT’s Board of Directors Visits Gem Mines and Gemstone Markets in Yen Bai Province, Vietnam to Explore Potential for Enhancing Gem Trade Cooperation with Thailand March 12, 2025, Yen Bai Province, Vietnam – Mrs. Nuntawun Sakuntanak, Chairperson of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), along with Board of Directors’ members and gemological experts, traveled to explore gem mines in Minh Tien district and visited the Luc Yen gemstone market, a significant gem trading hub in Yen Bai Province, Vietnam. The visit aimed to gather information and foster trade relations in the gemstone industry between Thailand and Vietnam. During the visit, the delegation met with key trade representatives and gemstone associations in Yen Bai Province. Discussions focused on opportunities to promote trade between the two countries, particularly in gemstone exports and the development of the gemstone industry in Southeast Asia. Additionally, Vietnamese traders and members of various associations were invited to participate in the upcoming Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair. The President of the Association plans to attend the event in September and is considering participating in the Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Festival in December. It is hoped that their participation will strengthen cooperation and open up international trade opportunities for the gemstone industries of both countries. Vietnam is known for its high-quality spinel, citrine, and various soft gemstones, which are highly regarded for their beauty and popularity. The country also boasts a wealth of corundum gemstones, including rubies and sapphires. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening trade relations between Thailand and Vietnam, while also creating new opportunities for market expansion and the future development of the gemstone industry.
